The Alexander Lab

The Alexander lab is in newly converted lab space on the 8th floor of the McArdle Lab for Cancer Research, and is associated with several mouse rooms. The group is supported by a mouse specialist and a molecular biology specialist, and typically will comprise about 4 graduate students/post-docs and several mentored undergraduates. This allows for individualized training for all the lab members. All the equipment and resources necessary for animal analyses, for molecular and cell biology are usually available in the McArdle Lab, including a full-service histology lab and flow cytometry. There are weekly one-on-one meetings, weekly lab meetings, fortnightly cancer biology literature meetings, monthly syndein meetings, weekly McArdle seminars and frequent colloquia with outside speakers. Our seminar program on campus is stellar, and is contributed by several of the basic science departments. Lab members are expected to attend at least one meeting per year. The graduate students are drawn from our Cancer Biology Program and from other campus-wide programs, such as Cell and Molecular Biology (CMB).
